Belkin Awarded Sustainability Initiative Of The Year By Business Intelligence Group

The Business Intelligence Group today awarded Belkin, the market leader in mobile accessories, Sustainability Initiative of the Year in the 2018 Sustainability Awards program. The Sustainability Awards honor those people, teams and organizations who have made sustainability an integral part of their practice or overall mission.

In a mission to expand environmental stewardship, Belkin set a goal in 2009 to reduce 25 percent of worldwide electricity consumption by 2017. Currently, Belkin has met and exceeded their goal, achieving 37 percent reduction in worldwide electricity consumption. Belkin’s reduction in worldwide electricity use was due to efficiency upgrades in facilities, including installation of solar panels, establishment of EV charging stations in company parking lots, installation of motion sensor lighting in Belkin offices and distribution centers.Overall, the company has reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 25 percentsince 2009.

“We recognize that our operations and services impact theenvironment. We are fundamentally driven to take as many measures as we can to reduce ourimpact,” said Ernie Roberts, sustainability manager for the Belkin division. “We are honored to be recognized by the Business Intelligence Group for our efforts and it inspires us to continuesurpassing the goals we set to reduce our carbon footprint.”
