Xiaomi Redmi 4A Tips & Tricks

Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has recently launched a new smartphone i.e., Redmi 4A priced at Rs 5999. The device comes with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB as its internal storage. Its has 5-inch IPS display with 294 PPI and 1280 * 720 pixles as its resolution. It comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC and quad-core processor clocked at 1.4 GHz. The device is powered by a 3120 mAh battery and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based MIUI 8. The device packs a 13 MP rear camera with LED flash and 5 MP front camera. If you are purchasing the device then here are few TIps & Tricks of the same that can help you in exploring your device with ease.

SIM card Insertion

SIM card insertion is the first thing that any user does when they purchase a new device. To insert the SIM on Redmi 4A, Push the SIM ejector pin and remove the tray. Now place the SIM cards on the tray and push it back. You have successfully inserted the SIM on your device. The device supports both Nano SIM card and Micro SIM card. The Nano SIM card slot is a Hybrid SIM slot where you can either insert the SIM or insert a memory card on your device to extent the storage.

Bloatware Apps on Redmi 4A

Bloatware apps are the unwanted app that come pre-installed on your device. Redmi 4A comes with Amazon Kindle, Facebook, WPS Office, Make My Trip, Flipkart & Swift Keyboard pre-installed on it.

Enable Developer Mode

To enabled the developer mode on your device, open the settings and tap on About Phone. In the new window, click on MIUI version for 7-8 times continuously to enable the option on your device. Once the option is enabled, you can find it on the settings window, just above the About Phone option.

One Handed Mode

Redmi 4A has a 5-inch IPS display and makes the device look larger. If you want to use the device using a single hand you can reduce the screen size. To enable this, open the settings and tap on Additional Settings. In the new window, you need to tap on One-handed mode toogle the button to enable it on your device. It comes with two screen size options i.e., 4.0-inches & 3.5-inches, select any of the options by tapping on it. Now you need to swipe your finger from right to left on the capacitive touch buttons. A pop-up stating Enter One-handed mode is displayed on screen, tap on OK button to continue.

Tethering Mode/Personal Hotspot

Tethering mode option is used to share the internet from one device to another. To share the data using your Redmi 4A, open the settings and tap on Personal Hotspot in Wireless & Network. In the new window, you need to toggle the button adjacent to Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot to enable that on your device. The Password and Network name can be set by taping on Set Up Wi-Fi hotspot in the same window.

Power Saving Mode

Power Saving Mode helps in improving the battery life your device during low battery conditions. To enable Power saver mode, open the settings and tap on battery in system & device section. In the new window, tap on Power and click on Battery Saver. Further, you need to toggle the button adjacent to battery saver to enable that on your device.

RAM & Storage

The device comes with 16 GB as its internal storage and can be expanded to 128 GB using an external Memory card. Out of 16 GB around 8.51 GB of free space is available for end user. Redmi 4A comes with 2 GB of RAM and around 1.1 GB of free RAM is available when no Apps are running on device.

There are three ways in which we can captured the screenshot on redmi 4A.

  • Method 1: You need to press the power button along with volume down button to capture the screenshot.
  • Method 2: In the method, you need to open the notification panel and click on screenshot option.
  • Method 3: This is the gesture method of capturing the screenshot. In this method, you need to enable the option before to capture the screenshot. Open the settings and click on Additional Settings, in the new window, click on screenshot and toggle the button adjacent to slide three fingers to take a screenshot option. Now swipe screen fingers from top to bottom of the screen to capture screenshot.

Notification Lights on Redmi 4A

Redmi Note 4A comes with LED notification lights. To use these lights on your device, you need to enable them before. Open the settings and tap on additional settings. In the new window, click on Notification lights and toggle the button adjacent to light up when charging and pulse notification light to enable them on your device. You can also set the colours by tapping on Notification light colors and click on the color that you want to use. Similarly the colors can also be changed for Calls & Messages Notification.

App Lock

The Redmi 4A comes with a inbuilt Applock which helps in securing the application by locking them. To enable this on your device, open the settings and click on App Lock and select the apps that you want to lock and click on set password. Further Add the pattern twice and click on Ok button. You have successfully locked the applications.

Child Mode on Redmi 4A

Child Mode application helps in displaying limited number of applications on screen. To use this, open the settings and click on Additional settings. In the new window, click on Child Mode and set the password for child mode by tapping on it. Once the password is select the applications that you want in child mode screen. The child mode is activated on your device. To exit the child mode, you need to click on exit button and enter the password and further you need to toggle the button adjacent to child mode to disable that from your device.

Enable Battery Percentage on Redmi 4A

To enable the battery percentage on Redmi 4A, open the settings and click on Notification & Status Bar in the system & device section. In the new window, click on battery indicator and select percentage. The battery percentage is displayed adjacent to battery icon in the status bar.

Customize Notification Panel

To customize the notification panel on Redmi 4A, open the notification panel completely and click on More option. In the new window you will find the list of options available on the panel. Now you need to tap on the three dotted button and toggle the apps to arrange them in order. You can also add new options accordingly by dragging them and placing them at suitable position.
